[MY DIY] NEON STRAP FLATS

5.31.2012

After seeing elastic neon pieces of ribbon at M&J Trimming (call to have them ship), I scooped a bunch up and have been adding a little color here and there with DIY belts and bag straps. My newest use is adding ankle straps to my flats. Worn with a pair of rolled jeans and grey T, it added the perfect amount of neon to an everyday outfit. The best part: they are removable and color interchangeable.

Steps after the break...
1. First wrap the piece of ribbon around your ankle 2.5 times, then cut each end at an angle
2. Place the scratchy size of the Velcro each of the outside ends of the ribbon
3. Then place the soft side of the Velcro inside each side of your flat, by the bridge of your foot
4. Connect the Velro on the ribbon to the Velco on your shoe, loop and do the same on the opposite side
5. Interchange with other colors!

  2. Nice ! I'm going to try doing it with multiple thin ribbon, sewing them together where the velcro is :) This could also look cute with lace or even leather. xx
