After seeing the embellished shoulder/waistband combo at the Oscars, I knew I wanted to make a more casual version for non award show occasions. I found some amazing beaded appliques, perfect to place on the shoulders, at M&J Trimming, and sequins ribbon to match at the waistline. I must say, the shirt looks even cooler on, and I can't wait to sport this weekend to add a little glitz into my getup.
Supplies: Non stretch shirt (mine is from F21), beaded appliques from M&J Trimming (similar here, or call the store to ship the exact ones), sequins triangle trim, and fabric glue.
Steps after the break...
Apply a good amount of glue to the back of the applique.
Place on the shoulder, repeat on the opposite side.
Glue the trim onto the bottom of the shirt.
Let dry overnight.

What an awesome idea! It's seems like a pretty easy way to add some flair to a top. Super cute!

ReplyDeleteSo cute! Would be a great update for a bright, thrifted blouse. I bought the same trim at M&J, and haven't decided how to use it yet!

Nice! I love the how you mixed the appliqués and trim - they're different but perfectly complementary.

ReplyDeleteWas at M&J yesterday. Should've peeped your blog to pick up this applique to make my own embellished shirt. Next time I'll have to do it.
I have more bracelets and the tie dyed scarf that I wanted to make.
