While in Florida, I am making some jewelry to sell at an art show here. Most the pieces are made of chain, pearls and rhinestones, but I decided to also make bunch of colorful wrap bracelets inspired by the tribal necklace I made my last time I visited. Since the weather is warming up, I thought you all might like the step-by-step for these bracelets. The color combos are sure to brighten any outfit!

Supplies: Scissors, Buttons, Leather rope, Craft Cord
First, double up the rope and cut a piece long enough to wrap around your wrist 2.5 times.
Next (the hardest part for me) picking colors!
More steps after the break...
Make a knot with the leather rope and craft cords, leaving a large enough loop for your button to go through.
Start wrapping you first color cord around the learope and the other strings of craft cord
Continue to wrap alternating colors
When you reach the end, tie the craft cord around leather rope. Double knot.
Next thread the leather rope through the button hole
Double knot and cut off the excess ends. I always like to dot a little superglue on the knots for extra hold.
Secure on your wrist by putting the button through the loop, and stack a bunch!

love this, I JUST picked up a big bag of embroidery floss <3

Love this project! I have tons of that embroidery thread lying around as leftovers from when I was about 7 years old and we used it to craft things at day camp :) So glad I never get rid of anything - I can definitely use that to make these awesome bracelets! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThese bracelets are so fun. Seeing all the floss reminds me of how I used to make all types of friendship bracelets when I was in middle school and lived for getting new colors of floss and creating new designs. You just may have inspired me to pick it back up. What a cute and creative idea! Love it!

Do you have a Youtube account where there are videos of how to do them correctly? I'm kind of confused on how to make this, especially the first couple of steps. For me personally, I think that video would help me to understand better of how to make this. I really would love to make this and I will try to go to Michael's to buy the leather. Thanks so much for doing this though!
ReplyDeleteLooks so cute!
ReplyDeletemaybe i'm dumb but how do you get the floss to stay when wrapping it if it isn't knotted or anything?
