Giveaway!

9.28.2011
I've received a ton of emails about this bracelet and what chain to use. I stopped in at M&J Trimmings to find the chain: Gold Matte Gold 10mm and Matte Silver 10mm $4.95 a yard (call the store to order). Use rhinestone chain where each gem lines up with each link of the chain.
While there I picked up supplies to make more bracelets, and am giving one away to a reader!

[runway inspired] Tie-dye skirt

9.25.2011
from style.com
DIY necklace, thrifted blouse, Rebecca Minkoff bag

Tie-dyeing was one of my favorite hobbies in my childhood, so you can on image my excitement when it popped on Michael Kor's SS 2012 runway. I love this monotone take on the look, and decided to try it out on a skirt that the lovely ladies over at BurdaStyle made for me (check out the post here). I went with purple because I wanted a color to transition from the Summer to Fall.
Also, to celebrate my site redesign (what do you think?!?) Check back mid week for a giveaway!

Supplies: White cotton skirt (made by the amazing Alison at Burda Style), purple dye, bucket, rubber bands

[my DIY] neon bracelets

9.22.2011

I am loving the pops of neon all over the runway, and am excited that the trend is continuing as the weather turns colder.  Adding pop of pink, green or blue to a monotone outfit is a fun way to add a little something special to your look.  And with some supplies from Home Depot, it is cheap and easy to make!

Supplies: Rope and anchor shackles from Home Depot, scissors and super glue.

[my DIY] Kanye Ombre Denim Shirt

9.11.2011

Kanye image from MTV Style
Over the years, the style at the VMA has gotten progessively crazier - Stuffed animal purses and meat dresses just to name a few moments. I don't often take my fashion cues from the evening,  but died a little over Kanye's ombre denim shirt.
The fade from dark to light turn an everyday jean top, into shirt worth talking about.
The final look is prefect to wear over a short dress instead of a cardigan,
or button up and pair with a bright mini skirt.

Supplies: Shirt from H&M, Brilliant Blue iDye, Navy blue fabric dye and plastic gloves (bucket optional)

[my DIY] Jason Wu inspired V-Neck

9.05.2011
Hope everyone is having an amazing Labor Day!  I spent the weekend away from my laptop going to concerts, the beach and now off to a BBQ. Just want to quickly stop in to share a project I did with Kmart using one their Route 66 V-Neck Long Sleeve Top. Inspired by Jason Wu's runway, I added lace to a plain T.
What did you make this weekend?
