[my DIY] Nautical Necklace

8.07.2011
With a tripped planned for Philly this weekend, I wanted to make a nautical inspired necklace fit to wear by water. After wandering the aisles of Home Depot, I found the perfect copper piping pieces to combine with rope to create the look. And finished it off with a pop of blue!
American Apparel top, F21 palazzo pants, thrifted bag, DIY bracelets and necklace
Supplies: Glue gun, copper piping and carabiner (Hope Depot), Thick rope and thin leather rope (M&J Trimming)
Step-by-step after the break...

Double up the rope and string the copper piping on it. Space evenly around the rope.

Thread the leather rope through the piping.

Wrap leather rope on both sides of the copper piping to keep in in place (and add a pop of color!)

Glue the end to the wrapped rope to secure. Repeat on the other side of the piping.

Repeat on all three pieces of piping.

Glue the two ends of rope together.
Covered the glued ends by wrapping rope around them. Connect the two end loops with the carabiner.

  8. This is an adorable DIY! Hope you had fun here in Philly! If you're still in the city, I'd recommend visiting Franklin Fountain for the BEST ice cream ever! And it's about 2 blocks from the waterfront!
